Last Sunday my Dad and I started the 4 hour drive up to the Adirondacks, to tackle my first two Adirondack 46ers (my Dad has already climbed all of them, but he agreed to do them all again with me). We picked my sister (Arielle) up in Troy and decided to do an easy hike to prep us for the following day. 80 degrees on Long island! Yes! Finally, a nice spring weekend. It’s about time…April 14th, practically a month into spring. What better way to spend it then a hike in the Catskills … hiking in 20 degree weather and snow flurries?
Last month I did my first winter hike. A seven mile hike covering three of the Catskill 3,500 mountains is a decent challenge. A seven mile hike over three of the Catskill 3,500 mountains in the dead of winter, with two feet of snow, is an even more intense challenge, but hey, why not?
